There are many beauty brands that are available everywhere for purchase. From completely vegan, organic and/or cruelty- free to some filled with chemicals and dangerous ingredients. Trends come and go but there is one that’s here to stay and that is supporting makeup companies that do not test on animals. There are more that a hundred of these companies and more are changing their ways to better the world and continue helping us look glamorous along the way.
What does cruelty-free makeup mean?
Well, it means that these companies do NOT test on animals. Most test done on animals are painful and usually the animals end up being killed. Horrible, I know! That’s why many companies have changed the way they do the testing and have continued to move forward. Now, keep in mind that not testing on animals does not mean the ingredients used are free of animal products.
How do these companies test their makeup?
Companies that are cruelty-free have different ways of testing. According to Cruelty Free International, there are many different ways the testing can be done. The alternative methods include: cell cultures, human tissue, computer models and volunteer studies. Yay for Science!

How do you know if a makeup brand is cruelty-free?
One popular way of knowing is by looking for the Leaping bunny logo. This company was formed by large animal protectors group called The Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC).
The Leaping Bunny Standard is basically a pledge that companies make not to test animals on any of their product’s stages. Assuring they are 100% not tested on animals.
